I took this photo on June 26, the first time David and I drove up Red Mountain Road to check out the fire. This lovely creature was quite a flirt - observing us keenly, prancing about the side of the road, and seemingly posing for the camera. Can anyone tell me if that's normal behavior?

Foxy lady... or gentleman

Cristina, it's probably normal for an animal that has been run out of his habitat by a fire. You probably wouldn't be sleeping good either. Plus he was most likely hungry from having to hunt in strange territory. We do see foxes in Benbow early in the morning.
Yes, David also thought it might be fire-related behavior. It was sure magical to be able to observe it for a few minutes, and not have it run away!
Lucky! The only photos I get is of the blurry tail slipping into the bush!
They are usually as sly as a fox.
Except when they are distracted by chickens or food.
Wait, chickens/food, same thing to the fox. We have a lot of them near Trinidad. They don't usually pose for pictures though.
Suzy likes fox news!
Back in 1977, when I was an undergrad in Western Mass, my friend Cheryl and I took a walk in the autumn woods. We came across a fox that frolicked and danced around us for a couple of minutes. It even bowed down on it's forelegs as a dog will in invitation to play. Never forgot it.
